Is your food killing you.

If you are reading this, then you are probably overweight so yes your food is killing you.

The number one killer in the UK is Ischemic heart disease or  Coronary heart disease (CHD)

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is usually caused by a build-up of fatty deposits (atheroma) on the walls of the arteries around the heart (coronary arteries).

The build-up of atheroma makes the arteries narrower, restricting the flow of blood to the heart muscle. This process is called atherosclerosis.

Your risk of developing atherosclerosis is significantly increased if you:

Smoke

Have high blood pressure (hypertension)

Have high cholesterol.

Have high levels of lipoprotein (a)*

Do not exercise regularly.

Have diabetes.

Diabetes (estimate that 850,000 people are currently living with type 2 diabetes but are yet to be diagnosed).

Heart disease (38,730 deaths, accounting for 13.3% of all male deaths)

Hypertension (high blood pressure) 75,000 deaths in the UK in 2015

All of which are linked to your diet the risk most certainly can be reduced if not eliminated by correct diet and the benefits associated with correct diet can reduce your chances of cancer.

Stop smoking.

Eat the right food.

Move be active.

*Lipoproteins are particles made of protein and fats (lipids). They carry cholesterol through your bloodstream to your cells. The two main groups of lipoproteins are called HDL (high-density lipoprotein) or “good” cholesterol and LDL (low-density lipoprotein) or “bad” cholesterol. Lipoprotein (a) is a type of LDL.
